LESSON 1
Activity 1: Play the Health Science Careers Jeopardy
This is a fun way to begin to think about all the careers available in the health sciences. It is not exhaustive as new opportunities open daily especially with new technologies.
Activity 2: Team poster
With your group use the Public Health site at http://www.publichealthonline.org/health-sciences/#introduction to compile information about health professions. Draw from the ideas that each member of the group compiled in the Task. Search the site to find information about each career chosen.
Then make a poster that shows the career, projections for employment in the career, type of degree needed, additional training or certifications, and possible salaries, etc.
Place the posters where all can see (if you are an online student, you will need to post these on Moodle for others to see).
Have a gallery walk so that all students can view the posters. Use sticky notes to leave comments and questions on the posters.
Student groups gather the sticky notes from their poster and prepare responses for the whole group.
Whole group discussion of responses.
